Hey guys!

Some of you may have noticed some recent changes to WCOUnited. With all the changes to Warrior Cats Online, the staff wanted to "freshen up" our DeviantArt group to make it more friendly for all of our users.

The following changes have been made:
  • Changed the landing page images from roses to vines.

  • Changed the Welcome! message.

  • Removed largely unused folders like "Comics" and "Animations". Future pieces that qualify under these can just be placed in their respective faction / section area.

  • Added "Non-Warriors Roleplay" and "Alternative Warriors Roleplay" as folders. Users can submit their art for these sections here. Keep in mind they can not correspond with the Main Roleplay.

  • "Mixed Group" and "Literature" have been refurbished. Instead of being solely for the Main Roleplay, users may now submit their Non-Warriors Roleplay and Alternative Warriors Roleplay art in the form of crossovers with each other and the Main Factions. As previously stated, these shouldn't actually correspond with each other in roleplay-- they're just for fun!

  • "Spoof" can now be used for for all sections of Warrior Cats Online roleplay.

  • The "Contest Archives" have been reduced to one folder at the bottom of the gallery sidebar. This was just to cut down on folder clutter and clean the page up a bit.

  • The "Latest Gallery Contributors" widget found in folders has been removed.

  • Some folder descriptions have been updated.

In addition to these adjustments, I've also removed a handful of unnecessary and outdated journal entries. The Group Guidelines have been removed, and members are expected to follow the Site Guidelines posted on Warrior Cats Online. You can find a link to them on the new Welcome message.

On the subject of Folders, you can review what goes in them below:

Featured: You can submit up to three pieces of art and/or literature per week. Avoid submitting all your work here to help keep the group semi-organized!

ThunderClan: Solely ThunderClan characters and scenes can be posted here. Other factions and sections should not be submitted into this folder. No written work.

ShadowClan: Solely ShadowClan characters and scenes can be posted here. Other factions and sections should not be submitted into this folder. No written work.

RiverClan: Solely RiverClan characters and scenes can be posted here. Other factions and sections should not be submitted into this folder. No written work.

WindClan: Solely WindClan characters and scenes can be posted here. Other factions and sections should not be submitted into this folder. No written work.

SkyClan: Solely SkyClan characters and scenes can be posted here. Other factions and sections should not be submitted into this folder. No written work.

Dusk Syndicate: Solely Dusk Syndicate characters and scenes can be posted here. Other factions and sections should not be submitted into this folder. No written work.

Outsiders: Solely loner, rogues, and kittypet characters and scenes can be posted here. Other factions and sections should not be submitted into this folder. No written work.

StarClan: Solely StarClan characters and scenes can be posted here. Other factions and sections should not be submitted into this folder. No written work.

Dark Forest: Solely Dark Forest characters and scenes can be posted here. Other factions and sections should not be submitted into this folder. No written work.

Alternative Warriors Roleplay: Solely Alternative Warriors Roleplay characters and scenes can be posted here. Other factions and sections should not be submitted into this folder. No written work. Submissions should be unrelated to the Main Roleplay factions and characters.

Non-Warriors Roleplay: Solely Non-Warriors Roleplay characters and scenes can be posted here. Other factions and sections should not be submitted into this folder. No written work. Submissions should be unrelated to the Main Roleplay factions and characters.

Mixed Groups: A combination of characters from any faction and section may be submitted here. This goes from border interactions and Gatherings to crossovers between the Alternative Warriors Roleplay, Non-Warriors Roleplay, and the Main Roleplay. Crossovers are not canon on Warrior Cats Online. Characters should have no history of interacting with characters from other sections. They should not affect the site roleplays in any way. No written work.

Literature: Written work relating to any character, faction, and section may be posted here. Like with the Mixed Groups sections, they can include interactions between roleplays, but those should not canonically take place on Warrior Cats Online. No artwork.

Spoof: Have a parody of characters or a roleplay? Feel free to post it here!

Archived Contest Entries: Contest submissions are stored here once the contest has concluded.

As always, we still don't permit the submission of "canon" characters. The only exception is if they are being portrayed in an Alternative Warriors Roleplay thread. Please indicate which thread the canon character belongs to in your entry, or it may be removed from the group!

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to comment below or send me a note.

Hey guys!

To kick off WCOUnited this year, we're going to be holding a contest. Unlike our previous competitions in the past, however, this event will be a combination of both art and literature.

How does it work?

First, artists and authors need to sign up. Enrollment will be hosted here, and entry will close on February 4th @ 8 PM EST.

The staff will then pair contestants into teams of two: an author and artist. Authors will be responsible for the writing aspect of the submissions, and artists will be in charge of the illustrations (which should correspond with the story). Partners will be announced the night of February 4th. If there is more authors than artists, or vice versa, one partner will be required to substitute as the needed role.

For both pieces, the theme is winter, which should be incorporated into your submissions in some form. If the subject isn't visible in your work, it will be disqualified.

There will be three winning placements:
  • First place will receive 500 koins and a free bank item of their choice. This does not include power cards.

  • Second place will receive 300 koins and a free* user-sold bank item of their choice.
    *Staff will pay the seller.

  • Third place will receive 100 koins.

Both pieces will be due February 18th @ 9 PM EST, and will need to be submitted to the Contest folder on WCOU as well as their respective clan folder. We will be open to allowing users without DeviantArt to send their entries in via PM to Lunacross or Raywood. Doing so will require approval prior to sending in the finished project.

Good luck, and have fun!
Hey guys!

As some of you may already be aware, about a week ago Webs emailed several Premium Plan users. Their message stated that on October 8th, they would forcibly convert all Sitebuilder 2 sites to their newer builder, Sitebuilder 3.

SB3 lacks many of the features SB2 sites still use. This includes, but is not limited to:
Shoutboxes, manageable sidebars that can be accessed throughout the entire site, easy-to-add Sidebar applications like the Recent Forum/Blog Posts, and our themes. For any SB2 owners that read this - it's highly likely you will need to change your entire site's layout if this update goes through.

We, both staff and members, have voiced our protests and concerns to Webs Support ( support@webscom.zendesk.com ). They have met our pleas with automated messages, claims that SB3 is "current technology", and lack-luster analogies about 8-tracks and horse buggies. Not only that, but one of our members received a snippy response when they inquired about certain sites keeping the old builder.

For an "award-winning" support, they sure know how to treat customers and consumers like trash.

In an attempt to appeal against this update (or more appropriately "downgrade", given we'd be paying the same amount of money for less features), the WCO staff has started a petition. While as of now we have over a hundred signatures, we will need hundreds more in order to have a chance at getting Webs to reconsider.

We have already contacted several Warriors sites, including Bryniel, Kugyay, Forgotten Times, Yowl, and WCP in an attempt to get signatures, but this may not be enough. If you haven't already, we urge you to sign this petition, email them at support@webscom.zendesk.com with your complaints and concerns, and spread the word across other media sites. This includes dA, Facebook, tumblr, Twitter, other RP sites - anything you can!

SB2 needs all the help it can get, and it needs it now. If they go through with this first wave of conversions, the chances of them stopping is little to none.

Thank you for any and all support! <3
Congratulations and thank you for everyone who participated in this two-week long event!

While we had a ton of fantastic submissions, you have to keep in mind this was a Summer contest, not an Evil Era contest, and was judged accordingly. The Evil Era was just for bonus points.

Thanks again for participating, we spent a lot of time deciding who wins and everyone did a great job. Even if you didn't win we want to thank you for making this a fun contest and for sharing your artistic vision and love of the site!
